Welcome to the
Life Long Learning or Friday Walking Group
The Ormskirk Friday Walking group (also known as the Life Long Learning walking group or LLL), originated as a self help group in which people come together to share experience, knowledge, and interests on a variety of topics, one of which was walking. The LLL or Ormskirk Friday Walking Group is now just a walking group.
We are a friendly group and arrange a regular programme of walks. Walks are around 5-6 miles and a few longer ones over 6 miles are included in the programme. Walks are open to all but are intended mostly for the over 50s. Most people who come on the walks live in West Lancashire or nearby. The walks often talk place in West Lancashire but can be further afield.
All the walks are led by a member of the group. Members either use their own cars to get to the start of the walk or use public transport where available. Members try to share cars and offer lifts to those who have no transport.
All walks are on a Friday, and most walks include a pub lunch either during or after the walk. Occasionally you will need to take a packed lunch on a longer walk.
The walks start at 10.45 but may occasionally start at 10.30. Any exceptions to these starting times are included in the walks programme.
All details of the walks are included on the website and the site is regularly updated with any changes or additional walks. Members also get a printed programme.
In December we have a Christmas lunch when all current and past members get together. In May we have an AGM followed by a pub meal.
